If the govt takes away the interest on home loans on taxes as a deduction?

will the rent to the poor in apartments and homes be forced to go higher? After all the owner has to make up the difference in the rent or lose money, how can this help the poor...? Just to punish the rich? Won't this hurt the people it is suppose to help? can the tax savings pay for more of their govt freebies like sect 8 housing?? Will the middle class get hurt the worst? AGAIN
