What is wrong with my internet security settings?

I have Windows7 on my PC. I run Internet Explorer. When I go into sites and click on buttons, nothing happens. In one site, (a freebie site) an extra tab will usually pop up after I hit the grab now button on this site, but nothing happens. I don't know if it is my antivirus or my internet settings. Please help.
